Delectus 2008 Cuvee Julia Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California, United States
Background
94 pts Robert Parker
“The 2008 Cuvee Julia, a blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and small quantities of Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Malbec, is a very impressive effort. Its dense purple color is followed by abundant aromas of cassis, blackberries, cedar, licorice and spice. Full-bodied and opulent, it is ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.
Barrel samples of the 2009 Petite Sirah and 2009 Syrah looked more fruit-forward, but pure with lots of character.”

Tasting Notes
Displays fragrances of cedar, dark chocolate (at least 75% cocoa), maraschino cherry, mocha, and crushed rock mineral components. The mouth is dense yet smooth, completely packed, slowly moves through the palate in waves. Saturated tannins and an enticing finish leaves one begging for more.
