ZÜM 2010 Pinot Noir Rosé
, Germany
Background
ZÜM Pinot Noir Rosé is made from grapes grown in the rolling hills of Germany’s Nahe region. The rich, volcanic soils include sandstone and slate, yielding a dry and food-compatible Pinot Noir Rosé with a spicy mineral complexity that is unique to this region.
2010 was a “vintner’s vintage” — offering very ripe grapes but with higher acidity than usual. Yields were low due to cool weather during blossoming. However, the excellent ripeness levels achieved at harvest, combined with careful vinification yielded beautiful Pinot Noirs in Germany’s Nahe region, though with unusually low production.
